Facts about men, boys and sexual assault:

  • The U.S Centers for Disease Control estimate that at least 1 in 6 men have had unwanted sexual experiences, including abuse and assault.

    • This statistic is very likely an underestimate.

  • Perpetrators of sexual assault against men and boys can be male or female, any sexual orientation, or age, and they can have any relationship to the victim.

  • Men and boys who have been sexually assaulted or abused may have many of the same feelings and reactions as other survivors of sexual assault.

    • They may also face some additional challenges because of social attitudes and stereotypes about men and masculinity.
